Google My Business has changed its name
Google My Business has changed its name to Google Business Profile, in Italian it can be defined as a business profile.
It is not the first time that the Google tool has seen a rebranding and over time there have been several evolutions, with many changes also of a structural nature.
But in addition to the update of the name, there were further news that we report briefly below:
- ability to claim, verify, update and modify profile information such as address, opening hours, photos and much more directly from Google Search and Google Maps in a new user experience called New Merchant experience (NMX);
- the old Google My Business control panel will mainly support larger companies and will be renamed as “Business Profile Manager”, properly called “Business Profile Management”;
- the Google My Business app will be discontinued by next 2022;
- the Google My Business APi will also be renamed to Business Profile API but will keep the same current functionalities.
But why was Google My Business renamed to Google My Business Profile?
The rebranding logic is mainly focused on the introduction of the so-called New Merchant Experience (NMX) which as mentioned above, represents the new card management interface for local business owners directly from Google Search and in Google Maps.
Instead, large companies, agencies and organizations will be able to continue managing their locations through their account dashboard.
Has your company configured its profile on Google Business Profile correctly?
