The culture of data in the company and in exports
Building a solid data culture means reviewing decision-making and operational strategies, models and activities. Looking at data science, not as an exercise in style, but as a new modus operandi to make quick and correct decisions and minimize risks in today’s increasingly dynamic contexts and markets. Uncertain and volatile.
But what is the approach to data by companies today? In the vast majority of cases, companies produce an important amount of data and often come into contact with other very important amounts of data from the outside, but only today are companies finally understanding that this data must be used, therefore they are becoming aware of huge value.
However, there is still a sort of vision of the data as a magic wand … but how do you overcome the false myths? Companies are complex elements that are organized following different characteristics, such as specific skills and market knowledge. The perceived value that the market has or that the company has.
And on the product itself, all these elements must be put together, they must be relativized, looked at from above in order not to run into one of the typical problems in the moment of decisions which are cognitive biases, that is, very often companies tend to over dimensioning one’s ability to choose.
This is a small problem that sometimes becomes a big problem, the ability to read the data, to observe it and to be aware of it helps the company to overcome cognitive biases. However, data is not a magic wand in an absolute sense, it is an excellent element, which together with other elements help to achieve one’s goals.
If human competence, therefore, people are in line with this factor, then data is not the key to solving any problem. While the awareness and the ability to interpret data through the competence of individuals, it becomes so.
But what does this mean? Because today this approach is fundamental and above all because it is important for it to be a natural part of all processes and all company levels and not remain confined to top management.
The importance of the culture of data arises from the world that changes the evolution of the markets no longer allows making decisions based only on the entrepreneurial culture rather than the competence of the individual manager. It is absolutely necessary to interpret the data inside and outside the company.
Here these data, if correctly disseminated in the company, not only allow to be cheaper and faster in business processes or in operations processes.
Data, markets and exports
They allow the whole company to be aware of the actions and reactions that need to be taken. This culture implies a rethinking and enrichment of skills, but who does not have them in the company who does? Is he a goner? No, no, absolutely. For those who do not have them, they must build them as soon as possible.
Skills in any sector, in any business are central to defining the degree of competitiveness of the company itself. Speaking of our area of digital transformation and export, I must say that a professional must have many skills, must have many skills.
Let’s try to think, for example, of the data scientist, which is one of the most sought-after professions at this time, the data scientist must have both technical skills, so-called hard skills, and non-technical skills, the so-called soft skills.
Among these I mention the ability to manage a project in an economic way rather than the ability to communicate with businesses. Here, these are very important skills. We have noticed for example that it is much more effective.
It is much more exciting for the client company to have a team with this multidisciplinarity at its disposal rather than a single element, because in this way it is possible to have many different characteristics in a single team and this leads to being much more concrete and much more flexible. .
Among the skills there are obviously also those related to technology. Today it is really difficult to disentangle the offer landscape.
The current technologies are really numerous compared to the past, when there were only a few IT tools related to data management or data visualization. Today it is absolutely necessary to invest in research and development to do a correct scouting on the technological landscape.
Compared to the past it is not only the number, however, that is important compared to the past, the systems. A very high power of interoperability, that is, being able to reason and dialogue with each other. In addition, it is not trivial, they have become much less expensive.
Technology will really help business processes, for example we can think of some typical features: that of collaboration. Collaboration between robots and between business processes thanks to machine learning, artificial intelligence technology.
What does it mean? It means that more and more artificial intelligence will have the task of being understood by the interlocutor not only to be modified, but also to give security and confidence to the one who uses it.
And the processes will be increasingly pervasive within the company. Machine learning-driven processes will be able to touch any business field to support better decisions and relieve repetitive actions. Here is what I can say to companies and rest assured because it will be a very fascinating future!
